Hello, greetings from Manila!
Welcome to my website. I hope you are so excited, just as I am. Shimbo Pastory is my name, and I am a Tanzanian social development advocate, researcher and whistleblower who has been using the print media as an avenue for good societal cause.
However, we are now going beyond the print media! We are becoming super digital!
With over 200 published articles on social issues featuring in reputable publications, my motivation remains to be the aspiration that Tanzanian and African societies advance in social justice, empowerment, inclusion, and emancipation of the people.
I am at the moment a weekly Social Development columnist for The Citizen Newspaper, Tanzania.
I have also gained experience using art for social advocacy through being involved in editorial desks of socially purposed magazines. I served as an editor for Writers Space Africa monthly literary magazine published by African Writers Development Trust, Poetica Magazine – which has now become PoeticAfrica, as well as The Fountain Magazine.
I also was a two times poetry judge for the Daughters Destined for Purpose (DD4P) nationwide poetry competition in Zimbabwe (2018 & 2019). In the competition, Zimbabwean students compete in thematic poetry which speaks about social issues of concern. Among other things, I am also a poet and a performing pianist/organist.
Articles published on this website have been published by other media houses, a mention of which will be made in the respective articles. As such, the website is predominantly archival.
Let’s journey together in positive social advocacy.
Asanteni sana.
